Thank You For Your Support

Dear Friends, Family, Fans, and Furman Band Members,

Fall has finally arrived--the time of year when stadiums fill up with BAND FANS to support the musicians, twirlers, spinners, and dancers on the field! No game required! The Paladin Regiment performed on Saturday, October 2, at the Easley Foothills Tournament of Champions. To say our students were appreciated is an understatement. The audience LOVED the band—they danced and sang along; they gave the band a standing ovation; they commented on social media and just word of mouth about the high quality of our students' performance and showmanship. Several of my colleagues (including several who judged the contest and area high school band directors) commented "what a great show!" and "They sound fantastic!" and "Both of my daughters want to go to Furman now!"

In addition to performances at the remaining home football games: October 6, 23, and November 13, you will have a chance to see the Paladin Regiment perform our show in its entirety on Saturday, November 6 at the SC State 5A Championship. We will perform at the end of the preliminary competition—estimated at 3:45 pm. WE INVITE ALL OF YOU who can make it to join us for that performance at Irmo High School, just outside of Columbia.

The Furman Symphonic Band will have our first performance of the year on Friday, November 12, at 7 pm in McAlister Auditorium. Please join us for a preview of part of what we will perform for the SC Music Educators Association Conference (coming in February) as well as to learn about where we are headed for our Chicago performance (March). Speaking of Chicago—if you can swing it, we would love to have YOU in the audience in Orchestra Hall for our performance there on Saturday, March 26!! Chicago is a beautiful city, and friends and family supporting the band are ALWAYS welcome!

If I can do anything for you or your family, please contact me!

Warm regards,

Sue Samuels
